ON OUR WAY TO IMPACTING 300,000 CHILDREN!
Together with KaBOOM!, The CarMax Foundation has built over 60 playgrounds in communities all across the country. Thousands of CarMax associates volunteer each year to bring to life the dream playgrounds of children in communities where we live and work.
In recent months, associates have built playgrounds in Seattle, Charlotte, Houston, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Richmond with new projects to come in Phoenix, Boston, Jacksonville, Chicago, and Nashville. Associates work alongside other local volunteers to create thriving areas of play for the communities’ children. As Viktor Gelis, Business Office Manager at our Newark, Del., location shared, “With a playground, we’re giving kids a place to establish relationships that will last a lifetime. It not only connects the kids, but it starts to connect the community as well.” In addition, The CarMax Foundation and KaBOOM! held their third “Week of Play” during the Month of the Military Child. In April, CarMax Associates across the country join children, families, staff and volunteers at nearly a dozen organizations serving military youth. CarMax was the first company to invest in a sustained partnership with KaBOOM! to create great play spaces for military families. To date, we have awarded a total of 30 Imagination Playgrounds and Rigamajigs and built three playgrounds helping over 13,000 children a year.
