For CarMax Associates > Board Service Grants

At CarMax, cultivating leadership and investing in the communities where our Associates live and work are two core values of our company. That’s why we created the Board Service Program to support Associates and eligible family members who serve on nonprofit boards such as school PTAs, sports leagues, and more. Governing, advisory, and young professionals boards also qualify.

Board Service Program components:

  • Associates must complete the training before seeking match assistance.

Annual $1,000 donation to eligible nonprofits CarMax/Edmunds Associates and eligible family members

Family members

Associates' family members can also participate in the Board Service Program. Eligible dependents include:

  • Spouse / domestic partner
  • Children aged 26 and under, which include an Associate's:
  • Biological child
  • Adopted child (or a child placed for adoption)
  • Stepchild
  • Foster child
  • Biological or adopted child/children of an Associate's domestic partner.
  • Children for whom an Associate has legal guardianship or who, by court order, are dependents for purposes of providing health care coverage and who are the tax dependent of the Associate for federal income tax purposes.
